Today's post is going to be a DIY, except it's so simple that I feel a bit cheeky even calling it that! Whenever I'm at a the seaside, it's impossible for me to not pick up pretty shells and rocks. There's just something about beach-combing that I've never grown out of, and I have an ever expanding collection of beach treasures scattered around the house to prove it! Last summer when my boyfriend and I went on holiday to Devon, I vowed that this time it would be different, and that I would actually make use of what I had collected from the beaches of south England. This frame is a really lovely way to remember a holiday and best of all, to keep those shells guilt-free!
- A deep photo frame (I used this IKEA RIBBA one)
- A print out of a photo from your holiday
- Your collection of shells, pebbles and other beach treasures
All you need to do is give your beach finds a really good wash and dry them out thoroughly before placing them inside the deep frame behind the glass. It's important that you wash the shells well, otherwise they can begin to smell over time. You can place the shells randomly or try to put your favourites closer to the front. I filled my frame to slightly above the bottom of the photograph, but you can do more or less depending on what you like the look of. Complete the frame with a photograph from the holiday you collected the shells from! This is such a simple 'DIY' but I thought I'd share the idea in a post since I've loved having this frame displayed in my bedroom as a memory of the holiday.
What a fantastic idea and a lovely memory of your holiday :)
